Fans

You may be aware that fans are varied and often unpredictable.  They may be useful or not useful at all.  They may easily be managed from the palm of your hand or entirely unmanageable.  They may be civilised or otherwise.

Being nice to nature is especially important when bees are busy fanning their wings.

Whilst whining and irrational desires towards winning and the drinking of wine are actively discouraged here, the suitable use of a winnowing fan, at opportune moments at harvest time, would certainly be sensible.

You may have responsibility for a flabellum or hexapterygon or punkah or a fan club or fansite.

You may have responsibility for managing fans or controlling fanatics.

You may be interested in understanding a fandom or a museum or the workings of a fanning machine.

What is your acquaintance with methods of cooling and ventilation?

You may have an academic interest in Korean war fans and/or Japanese war fans, rather than wars themselves.

Perhaps you have an interest in fan heaters

How frugal is your use of energy?

Perhaps you run a fansite for enthusiasts of hand fans.

Perhaps you have an inherited collection of abaniko or uchiwa.

Perhaps you merely enjoy learning about uchiwa-e and other ukiyo-e.

Perhaps you prefer to dance the cariñosa or even the buchaechum.

Perhaps you run a fan club for enthusiasts of the mysteries of the Universe.

Perhaps you are a deeply disturbed fanatic in relation to such matters.

Or perhaps you are a fan of 18th century European hand fans.

You may have a collection of folding fans with matching parasols, particularly oil-paper ones.

You may appreciate collections of art portraying such objects.

You may think the followers of a particular politician and/or political point of view are a fandom.

Do you consider political parties to be organisations associated mainly with fan loyalty?

Perhaps you would rather ignore such questions and explore the L'Atelier Hoguet Musée de l'Éventail in Paris or the Fan Museum in Greenwich, England or the Hand Fan Museum in Healdsburg, California or a few of the rooms here in Frugality Cottage.

You may virtually visit a museum in one place or another or another or spend your time here for a while.

You may not usually associate cottages and frugality with fashion, in any century.

How, though, can real world leadership be encouraged if not through fan activism?
